About Joel Beck (From his website)

Joel Beck founded The Beck Law Firm, LLC in 2007, to serve clients who seek practical legal counsel and solutions for their situation or problem. Joel’s practice is focused in the areas of financial markets and insurance regulation, estate planning, and business law.

Joel entered private practice after a ten-year career with NASD (now known as FINRA), where he worked as an examiner, paralegal, and then spent six years as an enforcement attorney. There, Joel litigated cases involving violations of NASD Rules, MSRB Rules, and federal securities laws. Prior to his time at NASD, Joel held positions in management and sales in the private security and industrial materials handling fields, and also worked as a police officer after receiving his business degree from Georgia Southern University.

Joel earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from John Marshall Law School, Atlanta, Georgia, where he was also a recipient of the West Publishing Company Award for Academic Excellence. He later earned designation as a Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional by the NASD Institute at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 (he has chosen to pursue other continuing education opportunities and no longer maintains that designation as active). He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is licensed to practice in all state courts in Georgia, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and routinely represents financial markets professionals nationwide in federal regulatory matters. Joel is also a member of the Christian Legal Society.

In March 2010, and again in March 2011, Joel was named a Georgia Rising Star lawyer in securities litigation by Georgia Super Lawyers published by Law and Politics and the publishers of Atlanta Magazine.

Joel and his family live in Lawrenceville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Joel previously served on the Board of Directors for Family Promise of Gwinnett County, an organization providing shelter and services to homeless families, moving them towards permanent housing. Joel is also active in his church and for the past several years has served on the Board of the Grayson High School Band Association, among other community involvement. His involvement in the public safety field as a volunteer firefighter in college and as a police officer pushed him to launch the Supporting the Heroes program. In 2014 and 2015, Joel has taught Business Law as an adjunct instructor for the College of Business and Leadership at Tennessee Temple University.
